EMERITA FLORES - PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Emerita is a non-profit veteran focused on improving food access for students across California. She began her career in 2005 as an assistant director for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove, and was later promoted to the Director of Expanded Learning Services and Director of Compliance of meal programs where she worked until 2019. At that time, she co-founded the non-profit, Impact LA: a DPSS and CDE sponsored organization focused on providing free meals for students. In 2023 alone, Impact LA distributed 97,000 after-school meals to students at 31 sites. They also provide extended learning programs for students during summer breaks, international health workshops, and annual backpack and turkey giveaways.

Emerita studied Social and Behavioral Sciences at California State University, Fullerton. In her free time, she enjoys creating art, tending plants (of course!), traveling, camping, reading, learning, and spending quality time with her loved ones.
